Description:

Jesus has shocked the synagogue at Capernaum with His harsh statement that eternal life can only be obtained by eating His flesh and drinking His blood. Our text for this lesson zeroes in on the impact these difficult words had on His expanded group of disciples. Many will take offense at the words, close their ears and stop following Him. This leads Jesus to both clarify and summarize the discourse by emphatically stating that the flesh profits nothing! We will analyze these hugely important words and then lament how poorly they have been followed in the church-- both in ages past and in our churches today. We will discuss how no flesh can live without its spirit and likewise how the body of Christ is useless with out His Spirit!
